Do you know the story of Brandner Kaspar, who cheats death itself in order to gain a few extra years of life? It's understandable, because he was already living in paradise: on Lake Tegernsee in the Bavarian Alpine foothills. See for yourself the beauty and diverse experiences around Lake Tegernsee on a day trip with one of our certified guides.
Tradition is very important in the Tegernsee Valley with its pretty villages of Gmund, Bad Wiessee, Kreuth, Rottach-Egern and Tegernsee. The popular dirndl dress was once developed from the Tegernsee traditional costume. Living Alpine customs and the lake's location directly at the foot of the mountains also make the area attractive to many Munich residents who come here to hike, swim and celebrate.
Depending on how much time you have, your tour can be organised as a full-day or half-day tour. Your first stop with the guide will be in Tegernsee at the former monastery with its famous brewery and St. Quirin monastery church. Continue on to Rottach for a stroll along the lake shore and through the town's famous promenade and food mile to the idyllically situated St. Laurentius cemetery. A visit to the Ludwig Thoma House can also be included along the way. The spa town of Bad Wiesee with its casino can also be included in the programme as you continue around the lake. A nice alternative to the bus is to continue by boat from the brewery in Tegernsee to Rottach and Bad Wiessee.
The classic Tegernsee tour can be extended to include the following guided tours, sightseeing and attractions:
- Jagerhaus in Gmund (local history museum)
- Louisenthal paper factory in Gmund
- Olaf Gulbransson Museum in Tegernsee
- Tegernseer Land natural cheese dairy in Kreuth
- Ascent to the Wallberg mountain with the Wallbergbahn cable car and visit to the Heilig-Kreuz pilgrimage church
We are also happy to arrange a combined tour with a trip to Schliersee and a visit to the Markus Wasmeier Open Air Museum or the SLYRS Whisky Distillery.
The duration of the tour and the fee will increase accordingly.
